Integrated Motor, Driver and Controller
![]()
![]() The AlphaStep All-in-One Stepping Motor, Driver and Controller offers closed loop control and high response moves with no hunting or gain tuning and features low vibration at low speeds. Using Oriental Motor's closed loop control, the AlphaStep with Built-in Controller uses a built-in feedback device that constantly monitors the motor shaft position to detect and correct for loss of synchronism even during abrupt load fluctuations and accelerations. When an overload condition is detected, the AlphaStep with Built in Controller will instantaneously regain control using the closed loop mode. When an overload condition continues, the AlphaStep with Built-in Controller will output an alarm signal, thereby providing reliability equal to that of a servo motor. The built-in controller driver has an integrated controller which ensures a simple, efficient solution for stepping motor applications and is computer-programmable via an RS-232C connection. ![]() ![]() Like conventional stepping motors, AlphaStep operates in synchronism with command pulses. This makes possible short stroke positioning in a short time.
![]() Gain tuning for servo motors is critical, troublesome and time-consuming. Since the AlphaStep operates like a stepping motor, there are no gain tuning requirements. AlphaStep is ideal for low rigidity applications, such as belt and pulley systems.
![]() Since AlphaStep is a stepping motor, it has no hunting problem. Therefore, when it stops, its position is completely stable and does not fluctuate. AlphaStep is ideal for applications in which hunting would be a problem.
![]() The driver employs advanced technology that produces smoothness comparable to a microstep driver. Its vibration level is incredibly low, even when operating in the low speed range. When frequent changes from low to high (or vice versa) speed operations are required, the use of the Resolution Select Function solves the problem. AlphaStep provides resolution as high as 0.036° per step without any damping mechanism or other mechanical device. ![]() All connectors have one-touch lock so they can easily be installed in narrow locations. ![]() The ASX Series can be set up for PC control, pulse input control or parallel I/O control.
